Batteries, not diesel, the solution to PEI’s Power Problems

Recently, the provincial government announced an independent review of the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission (IRAC).

The public utility has an application before the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission (IRAC) to add two 50-megawatt generators, but the report says installing a 100-megawatt battery energy storage system could cost less.

The report was commissioned by IRAC and carried out by Synapse Energy Economics.
