Maritime Electric is making its case in front of the Island Regulatory and Appeals Commission to add two 50-megawatt combustion engines worth an estimated $334 million. The utility says it needs to generate more power locally to avoid rolling backouts during peak times, but climate advocates hope other options are considered. CBC’s Tony Davis has more.
